In collaboration with the U.S. Embassy in Prague, we invite you to an afternoon dedicated to Film Independent and the American perspective on developing, packaging, and financing independent films.

Film Independent is one of the leading non-profit organizations supporting independent filmmakers in the United States. For more than forty years, it has provided filmmakers with education, professional development, mentorship, networking opportunities, and artist support at every stage of their careers. The organization is also known for producing the Film Independent Spirit Awards and for its extensive work fostering creative and professional growth within the independent film community.

The event will introduce Film Independent's activities and international initiatives, while also offering a practical look at how independent films are financed in the U.S. and how filmmakers navigate relationships with talent, investors, and financing partners.

American Center Prague, Tržiště 13, Prague 1 – Malá Strana

The event will be held entirely in English and will not be interpreted. Attendance is free of charge, but registration is required.

Packaging and Financing a Film: An American Perspective

Once a script has reached its strongest form, the next challenge is putting the right elements in place and attracting the interest of talent, investors, and financiers. Through their diverse professional experiences, American filmmakers Aaron Katz and Ron Najor will provide a 360° view of the financing landscape for independent films in the United States, including equity financing, one of the most common funding models used by American independent filmmakers.

The session will offer practical insights into the challenges and opportunities filmmakers face when bringing projects to life and navigating today's independent film marketplace.
